Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz has put his name on two bills that would criminalize disruptive acts of protest. One would make it a misdemeanor if protesters disrupt speakers at an event, while the other would charge protesters who block a public road or bridge with a felony for domestic terrorism.
Assembly Member Stacey Pheffer Amato introduced a bill that would treat peacefully blocking a road or bridge as an act of “domestic terrorism.”
The bill unanimously passed the Senate this year.
Under current New York state law, perpetrators accused of rape can use intoxication as a defense when victims voluntarily become inebriated.
