Pubs overcame wet weather to record almost 5% growth in sales during August, which one trade body celebrated as “encouraging”.
On-trade cider sales have continued to “struggle” against wet weather, showing declines of 20%.
Managed pub groups reported 7% sales growth last month (July), with wet weather and stagnant temperatures largely to blame.
Sales in managed pub, bar and restaurant groups saw 6.7% year-on-year growth in June.
Warm weather and a trio of bank holidays resulted in like-for-like sales in pubs having increased by 8.8% year on year.
