Bengaluru, Aug 26 (IANS) The landing point of the Chandrayaan-3 Mission would be known as “Shiv Shakti Point”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced at ISRO here on Saturday.  

The Prime Minister declared that "Shiva Shakti Point" will be the name given to the location where the lander "Vikram" made contact with the lunar surface. Additionally, he gave the name "Tiranga Point" to the location where the Chandrayaan-2 lander crashed-landed on the Moon's surface in 2019.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday he had requested the Karnataka Governor, Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister not to come to the airport to receive him as he did not want them to take the trouble of coming early in the morning as he was not sure of his arrival time after a long flight. Ahead of Modi's Bengaluru visit to meet ISRO scientists, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Friday alleged that he purportedly barred Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar from receiving him at the HAL Airport.
