Bill Maher’s recent outspokenness against liberals and Democrats has earned him praise by many on the political Right. Maher has been critical of woke politics, going so far as to warn of its dangers. Some have even gone so far as to suggest that he has shifted rightward. But the truth is Maher isn’t moving right. His recent statement suggesting the GOP doesn’t want black people on the Supreme Court shows he is the partisan drone he has always been.

As a resident of Philadelphia, many of the things the local government does baffles me. Recently, legislation regarding mask mandates, showing vaccination cards at restaurants, and other pandemic issues made little sense. There were also previous laws such as banning all plastic bags from the city’s stores and taxing sugar and artificially sweetened beverages that were just odd. But perhaps the oddest thing Philadelphia’s City Council has done is hold a vote regarding a no-fly zone in Ukraine. And it was introduced by the city’s only Republican at-large councilman, David Oh.

Two Republican governors vetoed legislation this week that would prohibit transgender girls from competing in girls’ sports. Gov. Spencer Cox of Utah and Gov. Eric Holcomb of Indiana felt it was more important to protect transgender people than the girls who would be victimized by boys competing as girls. A similar bill was vetoed by Gov. Doug Burgum of North Dakota in 2021.

There have been many reactions in the United States to the war in Ukraine. Most logical people see the encroachment of an independent country’s sovereignty as an act of aggression. It’s an invasion ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin, and it should be condemned. Yet, inexplicably, there are those who seem to be supporting Putin in his latest attempt to conquer Ukraine. In an exclusive interview with Inna Sovsun, a member of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, she explained why Putin doesn’t deserve any support.

Transgender University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas caused quite the uproar this past weekend when Lia won the 500-yard freestyle NCAA female swimming championship. Lia is the first openly transgender athlete ever to win an individual NCAA championship in a sport. Silent through all of this controversy have been members of the U.S. Olympic swimming team, particularly the female swimmers. Their refusal to speak up has left many angered and frustrated, including one of Lia’s teammates at the University of Pennsylvania.
