White teachers are permitted to be discriminated against in a Minneapolis school district, according to a new contract between Minneapolis’s public schools and teachers union. The contract stipulates that the district’s teachers who are not white will be prioritized in case of layoffs. Previously, such decisions were made based on seniority, but this new contract allows that procedure to be ignored.

The FBI raid on former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence was the main topic of conversation on the Sunday political talk circuit. The discussion varied on each show but mostly consisted of whether or not Trump broke the law. Predictably, the opinions were separated along political lines. Republicans felt Trump was innocent and a victim of a weaponized FBI, while Democrats felt he committed criminal acts. Also discussed were the ramifications of the raid on the 2024 presidential election.

Earlier this year, Putin issued a decree demanding that European countries pay for energy in rubles, the currency of Russia. More rubles from European countries for Russian energy would help the currency's value rebound in global financial markets. Whoever didn't comply faced having their energy supply from Russia cut off.

Earlier this week, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) announced a plan to bring much-needed relief to the victims of Kentucky's recent flooding. Paul suggested using unspent COVID-19 relief funds to help the victims of the state’s recent disasters, including this summer’s flooding and last year’s devastating tornadoes.
