The future of Courtright Community Hall will be discussed at the next meeting of St. Clair Township council after consultations take place with the Optimist Club of Moore.
In a report to council, Director of Community Services Kendall Lindsay noted that the facility â known locally as the Courtright Silverdome â was built in 1962 and has fallen into a state of disrepair.

Mould, a leaky roof and the lack of accessibility in the facility are among the numerous issues that require immediate attention, Lindsay reported. He recommended a temporary closure of the facility, which council approved. He also noted that repairs will cost over $200,000.

Responding to a piece of correspondence from a pair of concerned residents during their April 5 meeting, St. Clair Township council will again ask the county and the province to install an illuminated intersection at the corner of Highway 40 and Bentpath Line.
Dennis and Sheri Robinson are asking for a well-lit intersection because of safety and the general lack of lighting in the area

St. Clair Township council has backpedalled on a development charge it authorized in mid-January.
On the recommendation of township treasurer Charles Quenneville, council on Feb. 16 agreed to reconsider a motion that saw non-residential development charges from 2021 to 2025 drop from $20.84 per square metre to $9 per square metre.

During a Jan. 18 meeting, council had supported a motion that saw the township’s non-residential development charge go up by roughly 330 per cent.
Development charges in the municipality from 2021 to 2025 are now set at $6,583 for a single detached and semi-detached residential unit, $6,342 per unit for multiple dwelling units, $3,277 per unit for apartments and $9 per square metre for all non-residential developments, with all charges indexed for inflation.
