BATAVIA — The GLOW region was hard-hit by COVID-19 Thursday as the spread continued to hit nursing homes and the greater community.
Miché Fambro, a musician known for playing guitar upside down, died Dec. 18 following a battle with cancer. He was 64 years old. Fambro, who lived in Conesus, had days earlier announced that the liver cancer he was battling had shifted to a terminal diagnosis. The deaths included two each in Wyoming and Livingston counties, and one in Genesee County. The Genesee County death involved a person greater than 65 years old. The Livingston County cases involved people residing in Avon and Lima, but no other information was available. The four-county GLOW region saw 142 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, as the number of active cases continues at their highest level since the pandemic arrived in the region in March. Livingston County matched Genesee County on Thursday with 187 active cases each. For Livingston County the total represented the most active COVID-19 cases in a single day.
