President Lyndon Johnson delivered his final state of the Union Address to congress on january 14th, 1969, less than a week before the inauguration of his successor, republican richard nixon. The speech served as his goodbye to the American People, and as he did not give a farewell speech. President johnson spoke about what he saw as his accomplishments, including the passage of the Voting Rights act and the creation of medicare.
