Meta plans to to start labelling AI-generated content in May 2024, and it will stop removing content solely on the basis of its manipulated video policy in July.
San Francisco (AFP) April 5, 2024 - China is ramping up use of AI-generated content and fake social media accounts to inflame division in the United States and elsewhere, according to the latest report from Microsoft's threat center.
The board in February requested that Meta urgently overhaul its approach to manipulated media given the huge advances in AI and the ease of manipulating media into highly convincing deepfakes.
Instead of primarily focusing on content removal, Meta now aims to maintain the content while simultaneously providing viewers with information regarding its creation process.
The move impacts Facebook, Threads, and Instagram.
