COVID-19: Testing positive after getting vaccine means it works, doctors say

Doctors say it is possible for some people to test positive for COVID-19 after they receive the new vaccine.Continuing Coverage: Coronavirus in WisconsinBut that doesn t mean the vaccine is ineffective. It doesn t put a force field around somebody and it doesn t prevent the virus from coming in, said Dr. Mary Beth Graham at Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin.Doctors said there has been confusion because most people may believe the vaccine means they cannot contract the virus.But they said the vaccine doesn t stop the virus from getting into a person s body.It does prevent the virus from doing serious harm and causing more deaths. Nearly 1.5 million Wisconsinites are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Since receiving the vaccine, 18 of those people in Milwaukee have tested positive for the virus.
