COVID-19: Community vaccination clinic opens at UW-Milwaukee

UW-Milwaukee is opening its campus COVID-19 vaccination clinic to the public.Continuing Coverage: Coronavirus in WisconsinThe announcement was made Tuesday in partnership with Advocate Aurora Health.Vaccine recipients lined up even before the clinic opened. When we ve got a state system like the University of Wisconsin, it s a natural venue to try and meet the needs of the state, Nursing College Dean Kim Litwack.She said the vaccination site will run through August if there is a need.It will utilize up to 300 nursing students partnered with Aurora nurses.The clinic is aimed at vaccinating underserved communities. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services announced Tuesday it will accelerate opening COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to residents age 16 and older with certain medical conditions.Continuing Coverage: Coronavirus in WisconsinGov. Everyone age 16 and older in Wisconsin will be eligible for the coronavirus vaccine on May 1, Gov. Tony Evers announced Friday. Continuing Coverage: Coronavirus in Wisconsin State health officials said Thursday everyone in the state would be eligible sometime in May. Hours later, President Joe Biden said he wanted states to make everyone eligible by May 1. Having increased supply available means we ll be able to open up to the general public on May 1, Evers said in a statement after being asked whether the state could meet Biden s deadline. Getting vaccinated will be key to putting this pandemic behind us, so I encourage every Wisconsinite who is currently eligible to get signed up. Evers did not address how quickly after becoming eligible someone will be able to get vaccinated.
