COVID-19: 2 former prisoners run to raise awareness for inmate care

The Wisconsin Department of Corrections said 25 inmates have died of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.Continuing Coverage: Coronavirus in WisconsinRight now, it shows 45 active coronavirus cases within the prison system.But two runners say more needs to be done for the prison population.The former inmates are letting their feet do the talking.Ramiah Whiteside and Kevin Cook bundled up and in yellow sweatshirts, started their mission Monday in Milwaukee.They re running to support those incarcerated during the pandemic. COVID-19: Second case of UK variant found in Wisconsin


The Wisconsin public health lab confirmed the second case of the U.K. variant of COVID-19 in the state.Continuing Coverage: Coronavirus in WisconsinThe Wisconsin Department of Health Services and laboratory partners identified the second variant strain of SARS-CoV-2 Saturday in Wisconsin.The first case was found in Eau Claire County last month.The particular variant, referred to as B.1.1.7, was first discovered circulating widely in England last November.
