ChAdOx1 as it can generate a strong immune response and is not a replicating virus, so it cannot cause an infection. It had already been used safely in thousands of subjects in clinical trials of vaccines for other diseases including Middle Eastern respiratory syndrome (MERS), which is caused by another type of coronavirus.

Covid-19 Vaccine Rollout: Covishield to cost Rs 200 per dose, 11 million doses to be shipped in first tranche

Vaccine maker Serum Institute of India (SII) on Monday received an order from the government for 11 million vaccine doses of Covishield, ahead of the mega vaccination drive on January 16. The vaccine is priced at Rs 200 per vial.
