An Indian virologist has warned that the third wave of Covid-19 is expected to affect children in the country in a big way, between the months of October and November, and both the central and state governments should be ready to handle the situation.

Prominent hospital owners advised the Karnataka government to take measures to utilise final-year medical and nursing students for Covid-19 duty to alleviate medical human resource shortage.
On Saturday, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, met hospital chain owners to seek their guidance in handling the second wave of Covid-19 infection sweeping the State.
The meeting was attended by Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairman and Executive Director of Narayana Health, MR Jayaram, Governing Board Chairman M S Ramaiah Hospital, Dr Sudarshan Ballal, chairman of Manipal Hospitals, Dr K Sudhakar, state Minister for Medical Education & Health, Dr CN Ashwathnarayan, State Deputy Chief Minister and state chief secretary P Ravi Kumar. ....

Covid spurt: Karnataka imposes weekend curfew, night curfew till May 4

The government has allowed functioning of government and private offices/organisations/ companies outside the containment zone.
All private offices/organisations/institutions/companies shall be allowed to function with minimal strength as far as possible. As far as possible, work from home should be encouraged.
Only essential employees/staff of IT and ITeS companies shall work from office. The rest will work from home.
All telecom and internet service providers and companies offering allied services to telecom and internet services providers are permitted to operate 24/7 with unrestricted movement of personnel and vehicles.
All industries/companies that require operations at night shall be permitted to operate. Movement of employees of such organisations shall be allowed on producing valid ID card/authorisation issued by their respective organisation/institution. ....
