From Kate’s exquisite lace gown by Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton, to the lavish Westminster Abbey ceremony and subsequent carriage procession, throngs of well wishers lined the streets and a further 36.7 million across the country tuned in to watch the historic day. With Prince William and Kate celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary this month, on 29 April, ITV aired a special documentary on 7 April revisiting the event – which also offered some new details hitherto unknown to royal fans. It featured interviews with people who were directly involved with the day, like embroiderer Gemma Murray (who worked on the lace for Kate’s wedding gown), former Metropolitan Police commander Bob Broadhurst (who was tasked with overseeing security), and even Kate’s uncle, Gary ....
