By Victor Omondi Civil rights attorney John Burris, is upset by the delay in prosecuting Andrew Hall, a white police officer from Danville California, who opened fire on an unarmed Filipino man in 2018. Hall’s prosecution had to wait until last week. Burris, who’s representing the mother of the 33-year-old Filipino, felt that this was too much delay and that it’s what allowed Hall to kill another person, this time a Black man. Burris also feels that if Hall’s prosecution would have come earlier, the Black man he gunned down would still be alive. “In this instance, the delay in prosecuting Hall is particularly hurtful because Hall recently shot and killed a homeless man, Tyrell Wilson, under very questionable circumstances,” Burris said. “Wilson could be alive if Hall were prosecuted earlier.” ....
Danville officer who shot man last week, fatally shot man while on duty in 2018 KGO Share: Police identified the officer Saturday evening. According to police, Officer Andrew Hall was questioning a homeless man standing in the middle of Sycamore Valley Road Thursday. Investigation underway after officer shoots man with knife in Danville KGO Share: DANVILLE, Calif. (KGO) An investigation is underway in Danville after police say an officer shot a man armed with a knife. During a news conference Thursday evening, Danville s Police Chief Allan Shields said officers were called to the Sycamore Valley Road overpass around noon for reports of a man throwing rocks at motorists on Highway 680. Chief Shields says an officer arrived on scene and started questioning the man who was standing in the street. The chief says the man then pulled out a folding knife and opened it. He says the officer ordered the man to drop the knife several times. however, he started to advance towards the officer, who fired one shot, striking the man. ....
James William Wiseman, 85, of La Grande, Oregon, died peacefully on February 7, 2021. Born in Caldwell, Idaho, on June 20, 1935, to Julia and Gilbert Wiseman, Jim settled in La Grande at a young age. After completing high school, he served in the US Armed Forces 1st Infantry, at Fort Riley Kansas, SP(3). Upon release from active duty and transfer to the US Army Reserve, Jim returned to La Grande and married the love of his life, Joanne Hester Glenn, of Summerville. Together, they moved to Portland where Jim completed his Bachelor of Science at Portland State (1961). Jim and Joanne then returned to La Grande where Jim became the VP of sales at Lynch Motor Co. and later, the owner operator of his own specialty advertising firm, The Merle Company. ....
