It’s what Kamloops Alarm strives to be known for with its customers. Being born and raised locally, owners Darren Daniels and Ryan Moffett began with a shared passion and have worked hard to create an outstanding security firm that is second to none in the industry. Now the largest independent security provider within the B.C. Interior, Kamloops Alarm focuses on meeting the needs of its customers — growing relationships, over profit. As Kamloops’ longest-established security company, co-owner Ryan says he has learned a thing or two over the past 33 years about what customers want. Staying knowledgable with current trends and latest technology is what both he and co-owner Darren strive to offer their workforce, as well. Staff undergo regular training on new methods and equipment to keep skills fresh with the latest security practices and service.
Lucy Baxter Lucy Baxter at the mic - Credit: Lucy Baxter The last 12 months have presented everyone with a lot of spare time on their hands. Some people have binge watched box sets, some have explored the beautiful countryside that Lancashire has to offer, but I have used this time to create a new podcast all about our beautiful county. ‘From a Lancashire Lass’ launched in December last year and aims to shine a light on everything in Lancashire. I am currently studying a Masters in Broadcast Journalism and have been shielding for the best part of the year, so I took the opportunity to do this as I would not normally have time to do so.
People donât always get my sense of humor. Unfortunately, my years as a hospital chaplain infected me with a touch of gallows humor, an ironic wit handy for hopeless situations. Nevertheless, 10 years ago, I took that humor on a 90-day deployment to Panama with the Red Horse Squadron from Nellis AFB, in Las Vegas. Red Horse is the Air Force version of the Navyâs storied Navy CBs (Construction Battalion). Both are trained to bulldoze the ground in a warzone while simultaneously defending the same ground with an M16. We were in Panama as part of Operation New Horizon, a humanitarian project to build schools, clinics and playgrounds. The endeavor also gave our airmen the experience theyâd need to build a barebones base in a battle zone.
