A legendary American World War II submarine was located near Pangasinan almost 80 years since it was last seen on patrol.
Using data collected and provided by Tim Taylor, CEO of Tiburon Subsea and the Lost 52 Project, the Naval History and Heritage Command Underwater Archaeology Branch confirmed the wreck site they discovered as the final resting place of USS Harder (SS 257).
The USS Harder sunk 16 craft during World War II but sank in battle in 1944. Cmdr. Samuel Dealey was the sub's sole leader.
An organization on a quest to find and memorialize all 52 U.S. submarines lost during World War II has located the wreck of the USS Harder, a sub credited with sinking the most enemy warships during the war.
