PETALING JAYA: The Datuk who was caught on a viral video assaulting a man and a woman at a hotpot restaurant here has apologised, saying that his actions were too extreme.
PETALING JAYA: The victim who was slapped by a Datuk and another man at a hotpot restaurant turns out to be the son of another Datuk. According to Sin Chew Daily, Datuk Kwan Foh Kwai who is Perak Chinese Assembly Hall's deputy president, confirmed that it was his son who was slapped in the incident. "It is regrettable that this happened. We have lodged a report the same night after the incident. "I am not going to deny it was my son because I do not wish to see unfair posts made about him being circulated online," he said. When asked about his son's injury, Kwan refused to divulge much, only stopped short at saying he would fully let the police investigate the matter.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal ( pic) said both suspects would be remanded until Jan 16 to facilitate further investigations. At the Petaling Jaya Court Complex, members of the media had camped there since Friday (Jan 15) morning to follow up on the remand. Lawyer Datuk Suraj Singh, who was representing both suspects, said the case was being investigated under Section 323 and Section 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation. "I can only confirm that I am representing both men and they will be remanded until tomorrow," he said when met at the Court Complex on Friday.
