'Mare of Easttown' Episode 4 Recap: 'Poor Sisyphus' - Vimarsana News

'Mare of Easttown' Episode 4 Recap: 'Poor Sisyphus'

HBO Sisyphus is one of Greek mythology's more memorable tales: the man who cheated death twice but couldn't escape his comeuppance when it finally came for him. As the title of this week's instalment suggests, Mare is feeling very sorry for herself after the showdown which closed out the previous episode, staring at the ceiling as her family leave for work. After trying to frame Carrie with a packet of heroin, and the regrets over her relationship with her son before he killed himself, Mare is finally having to face her daemons as her decisions catch up with her. Down at the police station,...

Who killed Erin in Mare of Easttown – theories and suspects

Published: By: Advertisement Whodunit, Lady Hawk? HBO-made, Sky Atlantic-aired detective drama Mare Of Easttown passed its midway point with another head-spinning plot twist at the climax of episode four, enigmatically titled “Poor Sisyphus”. After college girl-turned-sex worker Missy Sager (Sasha Frolova) was violently abducted, “Gone Girl Number 3” (as cable news dubbed her) was unceremoniously slung into the same dingy basement as Katie Bailey – the local girl who, as the series began, had been missing for exactly one year.  Has Katie been held hostage...

SNL spoofs 'Mare of Easttown,' Delco accents in 'Murdur Durdur' sketch

"Mare of Easttown" is a drama that follows the main character Mare Sheehan, a suburban Philly detective played by Winslet, who is struggling to solve two local murder cases while enduring struggles in her personal life.  Kate McKinnon impersonates Winslet's character in the skit. But McKinnon goes by Care instead of Mare in the sketch. The narrator describes McKinnon's character as "an actress with a messy ponytail that says 'forget I'm actually British.'" Alex Moffat plays the role of detective Colin Zabel, who is portrayed by Evan Peters in "Mare of Easttown." Bowen Yang portrays the local...

Mare of Easttown - Enter Number Two

With episode 3 of Mare of Easttown now upon us, it seems eerily appropriate that we have three main suspects in the Erin McMenamin case. Two of them seem a little too obvious though, and with Mare off the case now all bets are off as to how (or even if) this will get resolved. Because despite what the higher ups seem to think, Mare is a fantastic detective, but maybe a not so fantastic human being. One of the opening shots of this episode is a "WATCH CHILDREN" sign in the town, which is an acerbic touch on the part of the show considering how many children in Easttown have suffered over the...

Mare Of Easttown recap: Season 1, Episode 3, "Enter Number Two

The sad truth is that Mare Sheehan was never going to make it to the conclusion of the Erin McMenamin case and be lauded as a tireless hero cop. She was never going to get a redemptive arc in which a new solve casts a positive light on her past police work. No one was going to tell her that surely, the detective that busted her hump solving Erin’s murder didn’t bring just as much self-ruinous dedication to the Katie Bailey case too. No matter how amazing a detective Mare is, none of that was in the cards.
