A Northeast Side teen who was fatally shot Wednesday night has been identified. Columbus police said 17-year-old Major Harris III was mortally wounded and 18-year-old Deacon Smith, of the North Side, was also shot on the 6100 block of Deewood Loop West around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. For the ninth time in a six-day period, Columbus police were called Wednesday night to a homicide scene. This time, the victim was 17. Officers responded around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a shooting in the 6100 block of Deewood Loop West. There were no victims that officers could find, but there was evidence that a shooting had taken place and someone had been wounded. Less than 10 minutes later, police were called about two people who had walked into the emergency room at Mount Carmel St. Ann's hospital with gunshot wounds. They had been brought to the hospital in a private vehicle.
