Olivia, which side is winning? i think we re all losing. it s hard to look at it that way. it s not a sports game. it s not something you can say they made points, the democrats have six points for their performance on tuesday and republicans have points for their performance on thursday. i think we won t know until the end. but i think it s just like comparing a ken burns documentary to the wizard of oz. one side is dealing with facts. one side cares about what actually happened and that is what they re talking about. and the other side is kind of throwing things at the wall, seeing what will stick and deflecting left and right. it s almost impossible to compare because they re in different universes. david, you wrote trump supporters are displaying the will to win and democrats are not. i took away from your piece that the democrats need a tv producer, someone to figure out the hearings for them. not to create a vulgar show, ....

February 2017, that he s been deflecting, that it was the ukrainians not the russians who did the interference campaign. in terms of this almost incredible news, i do think is really important reporting. u.s. intelligence agencies have not only come to this conclusion that claim about ukrainian election interference has been promulgated by russian intelligence for purposes of benefitting the russian government they ve not only concluded that, but they ve briefed it to u.s. senators. from your reporting, do we understand anything about why intelligence agencies have briefed this to senators, which senators got this briefing, whether this was meant to be sort of a protective briefing in terms of senators being targeted as people who could potentially promulgate this themselves? do we know why the ic decided to brief this to the senate? that s an excellent question. because what we can t say is ....

Brainstorm what ukrainian prosecutors might have information on this. so clearly, this is not a good look for devin nunes and, of course, devin nunes is deflecting. met with some of our colleagues saying he s not going to answer any questions. yeah. this time or next lifetime, he said. come to you about giuliani and pompeo. what we re learning from these court-ordered documents, release of the documents? reporter: late last night dumped about 100 pages here. the big takeaway, the white house was part of this effort to put pompeo and giuliani in touch. the documents show that pompeo talked to giuliani twice before giuliani turned over that packet of information that he said had dirt on the bidens to pompeo. now, this is important for two reasons. one is that the white house coordinated one of those phone calls. the second phone call was done through president trump s own ....

Full history of the conversations between trump and putin. but this is a theme that putin has been talking about since february, 2017, that he s been deflecting that it was the ukrainians not the russians who did the interference campaign. the almost incredible news that u.s. intelligence agencies have not only come to this conclusion that that claim about ukrainian election interference has been promulgated by russian intelligence for purposes of benefitting the russian government, they ve not only concluded that, but they ve briefed it to u.s. senators. from your reporting do we understand anything about why the intelligence agencies have briefed this to senators, which senators got this briefing, whether this was meant to be a sort of protective briefing in terms of senators being targeted ....

I agree with that. it s not the same as the fact that the president leveraged the aid to launch an investigation against a political rival. it doesn t alterror t the fact the president invited a foreign leader to investigate a private u.s. citizen. so what republicans are doing is deflecting. they re establishing facts that are true and you ve seen some of them articulate that very eloquently. but it doesn t go to the core of what s being investigated. i noticed on last week the first day republicans were not engaging in a lot of theatrics. a little in the beginning and a fairly normal hearing, if an impeachment hearing can be called that. it seemed between day one and two, there was note given they had to amp it up. ....
