DeGlopper Memorial Expansion Committee thanks community for holiday support

On behalf of the DeGlopper Memorial Expansion Committee, I am writing to express our gratitude and appreciation to the Rotary Club of Grand Island for coordinating the effort to place Christmas wreaths at each of the KIA stands at the DeGlopper Memorial site on Dec. 2. The kindness and generosity of these volunteers make a difference.

Elsie Martino honored for diligence, work toward DeGlopper Memorial

Elsie Martino has been the humble, dedicated volunteer secretary of the DeGlopper Memorial Expansion Committee since the fall of 2018. She has been gracious and helpful in accomplishing many tasks while being supportive of every committee member as they accomplished the amazing goal of constructing a monument in honor of Grand Island's World War II hero, U.S. Army Pvt. First-Class Charles N. DeGlopper and all town veterans.

New DeGlopper sculpture unveiled Saturday at Grand Island Memorial

Grand Island native U.S. Army PFC, Charles DeGlopper died in combat in Normandy back in 1944.
