The Government has delayed bringing in regulations to control intensive winter grazing after pressure from the farming industry.
The regulations to improve waterways and animal welfare were supposed to come into effect from May, but the government has deferred it until 2022.
Minister for the Environment David Parker spoke to The Country s Jamie Mackay about the decision and what it means for farmers over the next 12 months.

Stringent health restrictions on top of a triple-layer security measure will be in place at the Ekushey Book Fair that opens on Mar 18 after a long delay due to the pandemic.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police mandated the use of masks for the visitors to the fair venue Bangla Academy and the Suhrawardy Udyan.
Additional Police Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy visited the fair site on Tuesday to inspect the security preparations.
“We are preparing an impeccable security system like we do every year. In addition, we’re taking health measures keeping the coronavirus crisis in mind.” ....

Auckland s two recent lockdowns and the limitations of working from home have been blamed for a stalled residence visa queue.
The oldest applications date back to July 2019, and migrants tracking the skilled migrant (SMC) queue for applicants now treated as non-priority say it has only moved one day in four weeks.
There are fears among applicants - and those waiting to submit an expression of interest after the process was suspended last year - that the delays signal a slowing-down ahead of a review announced by Immigration Minister Kris Faafoi last month. ....
