Florida State University’s Lilian Garcia-Roig, an internationally recognized visual artist specializing in painting from the College of Fine Arts, has been awarded a prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship.

Garcia-Roig, chair and professor in the Department of Art, is one of 184 Guggenheim Fellows selected to the class of 2021. They were among a group of about 3,000 artists, writers, scholars and scientists who participated in the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation’s 97th competition.
