Pritzker Administration Recognizes Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month in Illinois
SPRINGFIELD – The State of Illinois today announced a series of events and resources to be offered during May’s National Asian American and Pacific Island (AAPI) Heritage Month. Hosted by the Illinois Department of Commerce (DCEO) Office of Minority Economic Empowerment (OMEE), events feature a wide variety of topics geared toward supporting the growth of AAPI and minority-owned businesses throughout Illinois.
Additionally, in a move to extend support to AAPI businesses as well as communities throughout the month, Governor JB Pritzker also issued a proclamation recognizing the contributions of Illinois’ 21,000 AAPI-owned small businesses and the role they play in our communities and the Illinois economy. ....

The Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce just sent me an email with a list of four webinars that will be offered this month to recognize some of the 132,000 Black businesses in Illinois. These webinars have been developed by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Illinois Central Management Services, and the Chicago Urban League.
Here s a list of dates and topics:
Thursday, February 11 at 10 a.m., Celebrating the History of the Black Business will feature interviews with entrepreneurs telling how they got started.
Thursday, February 18 at 2 p.m., Black Access to Capital will feature bankers discussing how to get access to mortgage loans, small business loans, development capital, and government procurement. ....

CHICAGO –The State of Illinois today announced a series of events and resources planned during February’s National Black History Month to recognize the important contributions of Black businesses in Illinois’ economy, and to promote efforts aimed at supporting their continued growth in the years ahead.
