Study backs Ayurvedic drug Ayush 64 in for treatment of mild to moderate Covid-19 infection

Ayush 64, a poly-herbal preparation originally developed by the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) for the treatment of Malaria, in the year 1980 and now repurposed for the treatment Covid-19, has been found to be useful in the treatment of asymptomatic, mild and moderate Covid-19 infection as an adjunct to standard care.
Ministry of Ayush and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) recently collaborated for robust multi-centre clinical trials to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Ayush 64 in the management of mild to moderate Covid-19 patients.
Clinical trials were conducted at KGMU, Lucknow; DMIMS, Wardha and BMC Covid Centre, Mumbai, involving 70 participants in each arm. New Delhi, May 7 : The Ministry of Ayush on Friday launched a massive nationwide campaign to distribute its poly herbal ayurvedic drugs AYUSH 64 and Kabasura Kudineer to the majority of out of hospital Covid patients.
In a statement the Ministry claimed that the efficacy of these drugs has been proved through robust multi-centre clinical trials. The multi stakeholder campaign being launched by the Minister of State (independent charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports and Minister of Ayush (additional charge) Kiren Rijiju will ensure that medicines reach the needy in a transparent and efficient manner. The main collaborator in the campaign is Sewa Bharati. ....

NAIROBI, May 7 (Xinhua) When the Kenyan government announced in March that the elderly would be given priority in COVID-19 vaccination, Andrew Wandera, a resident of Busia, Kenya, heeded the call.
The 62-year-old retired teacher visited the main referral hospital in the county a few days after the announcement and got the jab.
Wandera recounted Friday that he influenced other older persons in his church and neighborhood to get the vaccine.
There were lots of misconceptions in the village about the vaccine, with some saying one becomes very sick after getting it but I used myself as an example to encourage fellow elders to get the vaccine, said Wandera by phone, adding his wife, 59, also got vaccinated. ....
