Two. i like the cookies on an oreo. and i like the cream. reporter: oreo found the two product developers thanks to a previous invention for which they were known. it s called, we kid you not, the ketchup crapper. phil phenup and professor barry kudrowitz were grad students when they designed the ketchup crapper for a competition. now they they ve graduated to oreos. step three, push top cookie into subject mouth. reporter: at least they didn t go hungry for the week it took them to construct this. we were snacking weil while we were inventing. reporter: herb here never got hungry. herb stands for household ex-exploring robotic butler. separate. reporter: herb s been in development for seven years at carnegie mellon. oreo separating is just a sideline. remove precious cream. reporter: and white off anything that s left with a towel. guess who else is going to need a towel after heating the cream ....
