சூர்யா - ஜோதிகா திருமணத்திற்கு மூன்று நாட்களுக்கு முன் வெளியான படம், சில்லுனு ஒரு காதல். 'ஜில்லுனு' என்ற வார்த்தை வரிவிலக்கிற்காக, 'சில்லுனு' என மாறியது. கவுதம்மேனனிடம் உதவி இயக்குனராக இருந்த கிருஷ்ணா, இப்படத்தை இயக்கினார்.
ஜோதிகாவும், சூர்யாவும் திருமணத்திற்கு பின் காதலர்கள் போல வாழ்கின்றனர். இந்நிலையில், சூர்யாவின் பழைய டைரியை, ஜோதிகா பார்க்கிறார். அதில், சூர்யாவின் கல்லுாரி கால காதல் கதை இருக்கிறது. இதனால் ஜோதிகா, அந்த பெண்ணை தேடி கண்டுபிடித்து, வீட்டிற்கு அழைத்து வருவார். அதன்பின் என்ன நடந்தது என்பது தான், படத்தின் கதை.
கல்லுாரி மாணவர், பொறுப்புள்ள குடும்ப தலைவர் என, சூர்யா இரு முகம் காட்டியிருந்தார். கல்லுாரி பருவத்தில் நடக்கும் காதல் கதையில், அவ்வளவு சுவாரஸ்யம் சேர்த்திருந்தார், இயக்குனர். படத்தில், சூர்யா - ஜோதிகாவை விட, சூர்யா - பூமிகா ஜோடி, ரசிகர்களை வெகுவாக கவர்ந்தது.
