Board moves toward minor use permits for Solano ‘tourist-styled’ private road land uses The Board of Supervisors introduced an ordinance Tuesday that upgrades the requirement from an administrative permit. Protecting the right to farm was a critical issue raised during the discussion. A series of urgency ordinances have been in place since October 2019 to address “health and safety concerns” that arose, in part, due to disputes between neighbors on some of those roads. Road standards, emergency response access and other issues are addressed in the ordinance. The board also requested special event properties maintain commercial insurance and provide a notice to those renting the special event location about the right to farm standard in the county. ....
Supervisors proclaim March as Women’s History Month International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8. “Women hold 40% of the elected positions within Solano County and 54% of Board of Supervisors appointed officials in leadership in the United States,” the resolution states. The resolution was presented virtually by Supervisor Monica Brown to Laura Petty, chairwoman of the Solano Commission for Women and Girls. The resolution also recognized Kamala Harris as the first woman vice president of the United States, and notes that “a record number of women were elected to the 117th Congress of the United States of America, making up 27% of the congressional seats, representing a 50% increase from the prior decade.” ....
