BCM granted interdict against ratepayers' protest

The East London high court this week granted the Buffalo City Metro an interdict against the planned protest action at the city hall. This came after irate ratepayers threatened to shut down municipal offices, including that of mayor Princess Faku, on Tuesday morning amid a standoff over debt write-off, incorrect billing, illegal connections and service delivery issues.

Some WSU students may miss out on graduating

A number of Walter Sisulu University students could miss their graduation ceremony in May after the university missed its own deadline to compile the list of graduating students. Helping parents and teachers understand autistic children

Children born with autism are still not accepted in some Eastern Cape communities. Some are even locked in their homes and not allowed to venture outside by their families, who fear they might embarrass them. In some cases, parents remove their autistic children from the schooling system. Azapo wants provincial governments to be scrapped

Proposals to remove provincial governments and give municipalities more authority over local affairs have been made by Azapo, which launched its provincial manifesto at the weekend. The launch was in Patensie outside Gqeberha on Saturday followed by a door-to-door campaign in Ncera outside East London the day after.
