Buffalo City Metro councillor Kayise Tom, who was shot and wounded in a suspected political-related attack in January, has died. Tom was shot at the gate of her NU9 home in Mdantsane. An Eastern Cape HIV-positive serial rapist has been sentenced to eight life terms for raping eight young women, four of them schoolgirls. He was also convicted of seven counts of attempted murder after he raped seven of the women without using a condom when he knew he was HIV-positive. Mthatha high court judge Buyiswa Majiki sentenced the 34-year-old father to: • Eight life terms for eight counts of rape; • Five years for each of the eight counts of kidnapping; • Eight years for each.
