Cops have charged the gunman who fatally shot a 19-year-old dad-to-be as he took aim at his ex-girlfriend — the victim’s aunt — inside the woman’s East Harlem apartment, police said Friday. Havering residents wrongly told flats had flammable cladding

Bell Flower Lodge was inspected in January to get a fire safety rating, introduced on all tower blocks after the Grenfell tragedy, known as an EWS1.
Inspired Property Management, which runs the block, said documents containing specific details of the building’s cladding systems were “missing”.
It therefore hired a company called Façade Remedial Consultants (FRC), based in Hampshire, to conduct a “drill test”, taking samples of the cladding to identify it.
The £10,000 test, for which residents must pay, identified a wood-effect cladding up the side of the building as High-Pressure Laminate (HPL), with a fire safety rating of D - “medium contribution to fire”. ....

Fire safety inspections have uncovered hundreds of blocks of flats in England and Wales with faulty or missing fire prevention measures, the BBC has found.
Flat owners have been looking for evidence of unsafe cladding in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire that killed 72 people in 2017.
But many of the inspections have revealed problems inside the buildings.
The government said it was introducing the biggest improvements to building safety for 40 years.
