More Doctors Leaving Private Practice, Working for Hospitals
From 2012 to 2022, the proportion of physicians in private practice declined from 60.1% to 46.7%, according to a survey conducted by the American Medical Association. The share of physicians working in practices at least partially owned by a hospital or health system rose from 23.4% in 2012 to 31.3% in 2022.
