N.J.'s transportation commissioner told lawmakers that Turnpike, Parkway tolls will go up next year, again.
Drivers got an early warning form the state’s transportation boss, they can expect tolls on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway to increase in 2024, again. Transportation Commissioner Diane Guttierrez-Scaccetti made the announcement during questioning by state senators at a budget committee hearing on Tuesday. Adding, “Yes, tolls will go up on January 1, yes – we’re indexing tolls,” this as she addressed State Sen. Douglas J. Steinhardt.
Douglas Steinhardt was sworn in Monday to replace Michael Doherty as state senator in the 23rd District.
The 49th governor, a Democrat, suffered politically after raising taxes. Even decades later, he defended that as the right and necessary move.
