my name is dwight bashir and i m the director of outreach and policy at the commission. and i know many of you are looking forward to this week s the irfa summit, which has officially got underway. we have with us the co chair of the irfa summits congressional advocacy day. so i wanna invite him, just for a minute, to say a few words. amjad khan. [applause] amjad: good afternoon everyone and welcome. this is an amazing event. on behalf of the international religious freedoms summit on the steering committee, ambassador sam brownback and dr. katrina lantos swett. we welcome all of you also to this week of the summit. one of the reasons that we planned to do this event was the amazing synergy between this amazing body uscirf and civil society and, you know, here in congress on capitol hill, why it s so important to do it here today. we have coalitions, multifaith coalitions, over 70 organizations, dozens of faith communities speaking for each other on the hill today. over ....
