Some records sealed in case of Gregory Ramos, teen who killed mother


A judge granted a prosecutor’s request to seal some records in the case of the teen who strangled his mother to death in DeBary while plea negotiations continue in the prosecution against one of the co-defendants.
Gregory Ramos, 17, was sentenced on Jan. 22 to 45 years in prison followed by lifetime of probation for strangling his mother, Gail Cleavenger, 46, to death. Because he was a juvenile at the time of his crime, Ramos sentence will be reviewed after he serves 25 years in prison, at which time he could be released.
Ramos was a 15-year-old University High School student when he strangled his mother on Nov. 2, 2018, after an argument over a poor grade in their home at 35 Alicante Road in DeBary. He then buried her body behind a nearby church, investigators said. ....

Man Sentenced As Accessory In Friend's Mother's 2018 Death

Daytona Beach, FL - A 20-year-old man that Volusia Sheriff s Office investigators say helped Gregory Ramos cover up the death of his mother in November 2018 pleaded guilty to a charge of Accessory After the Fact to Second-degree Murder in court yesterday (February 8). Dylan Ceglarek has spent 828 days in the Volusia County Jail in connection to the murder of 46-year-old Gail Cleavenger of DeBary. The sentence recommended by the state includes Withholding of Adjudication, credit for time served, ten years of supervised probation, substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment, mental health evaluation and complete any recommended counseling, no drugs without a valid prescription, and no contact with his co-defendants. The co-defendants are Ramos, who was sentenced to 45 years in prison last month. Teen who strangled mother at DeBary home gets 45 years in prison


Gregory Ramos was a 15-year-old University High School student when he strangled his mother to death after an argument over a bad grade.
On Friday, Ramos stood before a judge and said he accepted responsibility for his crime and apologized to family members.
“Because of my actions, I will never get to truly know my mom, “ Ramos said. “Not only have I stolen my mother from myself, but I have stolen her from everybody else as well. From my stepfather, I took his other half, from my aunts and uncles, I took a sister and lifelong friend, from my grandmother, a daughter.” ....
