The Albina Vision Trust announced today it had acquired a permanent space in the heart of the neighborhood it serves. The organization’s headquarters will relocate to a more than 4,400-square foot office building at 2156 N Williams Ave., to house staff, gallery space for local Black artists and events.
The pod was founded by new restaurant resource group Win Win, a brainchild of Jasper Shen and Linh Tran, who co-own the restaurant XLB, and artist Catie Hannigan. The group prioritizes members of the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities in its mission to bolster a more inclusive food industry in Portland. While Win Win currently offers consultation services and a roster of free resources, Lil’ America is easily its crown jewel.
Responding to recent gun violence near Jefferson High School, the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) has teamed up with the city’s Community Safety Division to install reflective delineator posts at several points along N Commercial Avenue to help prevent opportunities for future drive-by shootings. The new design, which was initiated at the request of Portland Public Schools, between Killingsworth and Alberta streets uses strategically placed posts to narrow the road and create choke points that force cars to slow down.
