Mobilization underway for the Sunny Isles beachfill May 25, 2021, by Zlatan Hrvacevic The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District has just announced that mobilization is underway for the Sunny Isles Beach (FL) renourishment project. The contractor, Eastman Aggregate Enterprises, LLC, will place 280,000 cubic-yards of beach-quality sand on approximately 2.3 miles of eroded shoreline. Placement will begin in the north working southward with the contractor using the Ellen Wynne Beach Access first, then the former Travel Lodge Motel, and finally at Haulover Park, reported the Army Corps. They also added that most of the beach will remain open throughout the duration of this project. Flagmen will be stationed throughout the project limits to ensure the safety of pedestrians entering the beach.
Sunny Isles beach renourishment begins May 14, 2021, by Eldin Ganic The Sunny Isles Beach shoreline renourishment, part of the Miami-Dade County Beach Erosion Control and Hurricane Protection Project, will begin in the following days. The contractor, Eastman Aggregate Enterprises, LLC, will renourish eroded shoreline in Sunny Isles Beach, using beach-quality sand from the Garcia Mine based in Hendry County, Fla. The contractor will place an estimated 280,000 cubic-yards of beach-quality sand on approximately 2.3 miles of eroded shoreline to protect the shoreline during seasonal storms, as well as tropical storms and hurricanes. According to USACE, the project is 100 percent federally funded via the Flood Control and Coastal Emergency Act (Public Law 84-99) and the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 (Public Law 115-123).
All set for Broward County Segment II shore protection work April 7, 2021, by Eldin Ganic USACE’s Jacksonville District said in their latest announcement that construction will begin soon for the Broward County Segment II shore protection renourishment project. The USACE contractor, Eastman Aggregate Enterprises, LLC, of Lake Worth, Florida, will be at the site today. Sand placement will take place as soon as April 9 and no later than Monday, April 12, USACE said. The contractor will place approximately 220,000 cubic yards of beach-quality sand onto eroded Atlantic Ocean shoreline in central Broward County. The placement will begin from NE 7 th St. in Pompano Beach to the Terramar Street in Fort Lauderdale.

Under the official plan – part of the Miami-Dade County Beach Erosion Control and Hurricane Protection Project – Eastman Aggregate will renourish eroded shoreline in Sunny Isles Beach. The project is 100 percent federally funded via the Flood Control and Coastal Emergency Act (Public Law 84-99) and the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 (Public Law 115-123). “Eastman Aggregate has a proven track record working in south Florida. In 2017, they successfully completed both the Sunny Isles Beach and Miami Beach Hotspots beach renourishment projects, and we look forward to partnering with them again on the Sunny Isles Beach truck haul,” said
Eastman Aggregate nabs Broward County contract January 13, 2021, by Eldin Ganic The USACE Jacksonville District awarded a contract on January 11 to Eastman Aggregate Enterprises for $ 11 million for the Broward County Segment II Shore Protection Project. The contractor will place approximately 390,000 cubic yards of beach-quality sand along 8.9 miles of eroded Atlantic Ocean shoreline in central Broward County, between the Hillsboro Inlet and the Port Everglades Inlet. The project area includes the municipalities of Pompano Beach, Sea Ranch Lakes, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and the northern portion of Fort Lauderdale, to the area approximately one half mile south of Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. According to USACE, the scheme will help provide storm protection for the coastal population and infrastructure, habitat for several endangered animals including sea turtles, and recreational beaches for visitors and residents.
