The Eurovision Song Contest 2021 is underway, and this year, the UK's hopes ride on the shoulders of 2014 Brit Award-winner James Newman, with earnest single 'Embers'.
The preview of Newman’s performance at the second Semi-Final on May 20 looked promising, and you can see how the London singer-songwriter fares by tuning in to the Grand Final on Saturday, May 22, which will go live on BBC One from 8pm.

The last time I saw James Newman, he was singing on top of the world. Or, at least, the upper floor of a central London private members’ club, before an audience of music industry and BBC grandees. Who is James Newman?
Newman was born in 1985 and grew up in Settle, in the Yorkshire Dales with his brother John and their mother, Jackie.
John went on to be a chart-topping solo artist, with songs such as Love Me Again and Blame featuring Calvin Harris.

Award-winning singer-songwriter James Newman has been invited to represent the United Kingdom at the 65th Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam.
The multi-platinum selling, Grammy-nominated Yorkshireman had been due to compete in 2020 with his anthemic track
My Last Breath. Newman will now reveal his brand new bop in March.
James explains his eagerness to take to Europe's biggest stage:
“I’m so excited and honoured to be getting a second chance at representing my country in the Eurovision Song Contest. I haven’t stopped making new music in lockdown and I can’t wait for everyone to hear the song I’m taking to Eurovision in 2021.”
