Tide takes punters to Blue Anchor
Possibly some of the strangest customers to arrive for a drink at the Blue Anchor bar in Bellurgan didn't need conventional means of transport to get there; all they did was rely on the tide. The popular bar located on the banks of Dundalk Bar welcomed groups of people during the 1950s and 1960s who made their way there by rowing boat! Heading off from the pier at Dundalk harbour they used the ebb tide to ease their journey towards the Blue Anchor as the tide went out.
