​HDFC Bank is inviting applications from start-ups and solo entrepreneurs for its SmartUp grants. SmartUp grants by HDFC Bank under #Parivartan – the bank’s umbrella CSR brand – is aimed at finding and deploying long-term, sustainable solutions at scale, to address social issues and contribute to the economic and social development of the country.
 
This year, the bank will focus on start-ups creating social impact at scale in sectors such as Education – technology (ed-tech) and skill development, among others. ....

QC data security startup Qohash raises $8 million CAD Series A
Quebec City-based SaaS Qohash has secured $8 million CAD in Series A financing led by FINTOP Capital. John Philpott, general partner at FINTOP, and Laurent Simoneau, president and CTO of Coveo have also joined the startup’s board of directors.
Founded in 2018, Qohash aims to help organizations protect their data. The startup’s automated cloud-based platform supports data security, compliance and optimization use cases. ‘Ed-tech’ is not a new word any more. An increase in digitisation during the pandemic, constant innovation in providing unique services, and an ever-evolving consumer base has given the sector a big boost.
India stands second only to the U.S. as far as growth is concerned. Between January 2014 and September 2019, more than 4,450 ed-tech start-ups were launched in India.
