No CBSE Class 12 exams this year, decision in interest of students: PM Modi


The union government on Tuesday announced the cancellation of CBSE Board exams for Class 12 in view of the prevailing coronavirus situation. The decision was taken at a high-level review meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had on April 14 announced cancellation of class 10 exams and postponement of class 12 exams in view of the surge in coronavirus cases.
Class 12 results will be made as per a well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner, the government said in an official statement.
The Prime Minister said that the decision on Class 12 CBSE Exams has been taken in the interest of students. He stated that Covid-19 has affected the academic calendar and the issue of Board Exams has been causing immense anxiety among students, parents and teachers, which must be put to an end.

Govt to meet on Sunday to decide on conducting Class 12, entrance exams

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has called a crucial meeting on Sunday to decide on pending Class 12 board exams that were postponed in view of the second wave of COVID-19, Union minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' said.
The meeting will be chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar will be in attendance.
Education ministers and secretaries of all states and union territories have been asked to attend the meeting.
Pokhriyal also sought inputs from all the stakeholders students, parents, teachers and others through social media on Saturday.

UGC-NET 2021 exam for assistant professorship and junior research fellowship postponed amid COVID-19 spike

The University Grants Commission (UGC)-National Eligibility Test (NET) December 2020 cycle scheduled to be conducted from May 2 to 17, 2021 has been postponed, announced the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday. The UGC-NET is conducted for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the eligibility of Assistant Professorship, Junior Research Fellowship or both, for Indian Universities and Colleges.
Union Minister of Education Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Tuesday said, "Keeping in mind the safety and well-being of candidates and exam functionaries during Covid-19 outbreak, I have advised the NTA to postpone the UGC-NET Dec 2020 cycle (May 2021) exams."

New Delhi [India], March 8 (ANI): On the occasion of International Women's Day, Minister of Education Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Monday highlighted the importance of women leaders during the COVID-19 pandemic by saying that the best role played by anyone at such times is that of "mothers."
"The best role played by anyone in a pandemic is that of mothers," the Union Minister said at a webinar on International Women's Day today.
the Minister also said that women are performing exceedingly well in science, technology, research, literature and social services showcasing the highest quality of leadership potential.
