52-year-old Tracy Williams of Flora was cited by Illinois State Police following an accident on the eastbound entrance ramp of I-64 in southern Wayne County Friday afternoon.  Police said Williams was southbound on Route 45 attempting to turn onto the ramp and hit a vehicle head-on, driven by 87-year-old James Newman of Enfield, who was northbound on Route 45.  Newman was not hurt, along with two passengers in Williams’ vehicle.  Williams was flown to a regional hospital for treatment of injuries, and cited for failure to yield the right of way while turning left.
Fairfield firemen responded to a house fire Thursday night at 810 George Street.  Chief Andrew Miller said firemen responded shortly before 7:30 p.m. Thursday and found fire showing from the roof and attic area.  No one was home when the fire started, and the fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes.  There was extensive fire and water damage to the residence. ....
