Inclusive cards for Valentine's Day

VANCOUVER --
Valentine’s Day is coming up and if you are having difficulty finding the right card, there may be a solution for you. London Drugs has created a new card aisle for Valentine’s Day that tries to leave no one out while at the same time raising money for United Way.
They are selling unique, Canadian-made inclusive cards that feature different languages, genders and sexual orientations, as well as cards that recognize health-care and essential workers who’ve been dealing with the pandemic.
“You are not in my bubble but you’re in my heart,” said London Drugs store manager Edwin Chang while reading one of the cards on display.

Davis Youth Flute Choir presents holiday show

Davis Youth Flute Choir presents holiday show

The Davis Youth Flute Choir, under the direction of Maquette Kuper, just released its holiday 2020 performance virtual video. The performance of “A Christmas Banquet, A Renaissance  Collection for Flute Choir” arranged by Judy Nishamura can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2QudEvSD0k.
Performers met throughout the fall and were able to get in a few “socially distanced” outdoor rehearsals in Kuper’s backyard.
“It was a special bonus to be able to hold a few live rehearsals during COVID since the online version of rehearsal does not allow for actually playing together and listening to each other to match intonation and timing and to remember how to follow a conductor,” Kuper said. “That said, the ultimate task was to listen to ‘click tracks’ of the music while each person records their individual part and submits it to be mixed by audio and video engineer Stephen Bingen.”

Adopt-A-School: London Drugs steps up to assist kids at inner city schools

Article content
Social distancing kept the crew of London Drugs employees delivering gifts to Surrey’s Old Yale Road elementary school from receiving any up-close, heartfelt thanks from students and teachers.
But the large signs the children held up thanking them from afar more than made up for it.

“We really appreciated that,” said London Drugs spokesperson Jacky Kane. ”Every year I look forward to the special messages of thanks the kids have waiting for us. It touches my heart.”
