The agency wanted to allow about 300,000 eligible voters in 21 municipalities to vote online during 2025 municipal elections in Quebec.
Elections Québec is investigating a $200 donation made to the governing CAQ party by a couple who say they were told they could meet the transport minister if they donated.
“You make a $100 contribution to a political party because you support its ideas,” Marc Tanguay says.
"Boards are the last instance of government that belongs to the English-speaking community," yet the CAQ government has "demonstrated a complete disregard for our rights,” Joe Ortona says.
Élections Québec says it is the first time that a chief electoral officer has prosecuted election sign violations, with minimum fines of $500 per offence.
