NASA’s Perseverance rover has now spent its first months on the surface of Mars. The testing and deployment phase is proceeding well, and after the first technology demonstration with the Ingenuity helicopter, the rover is commencing the continuous scientific measurements.
With the arrival of the humidity and pressure measurement instruments onboard Perseverance, the first meteorological network on another planet is being created.
The Perseverance rover landed successfully on Mars in February 2021 and will now explore an ancient river delta in the Jezero Crater for at least the next Martian year, which is approximately two Earth years. After the landing, the rover stretched its robotic arms and has already delivered a good number of high-quality photos, videos, and audio samples back to Earth. ....

Thai money changers severely hit by pandemic, urged to offer electronic transactions

BANGKOK (The Nation/ANN): Seventeen money changers have left the industry since the Covid-19 outbreak, the Bank of Thailand (BOT) reported recently.
The central bank said that as of March 31, there were 2,365 registered money changers, down from 2,382 before the pandemic.
In 2018, the BOT reported a total of 2,260 money changers, up 112 over the previous year.
Total transactions in the money changing business in 2020 slumped by 60.66 per cent year on year, while transactions in 2018 had increased 3.74 per cent year on year.
Pol Colonel Sihanart Prayoonrat, president of the Thai Association of Foreign Exchange, said that the number of transactions at money changers could increase again after vaccinated foreign tourists were granted access to the country. ....

Electronic musician Lilstiffy has returned to Whanganui from Tokyo and he s brought a new album, Ecma, with him.
The Lilstiffy project began in Wellington in 2014, he said.
It started with making beats and working
with rappers, and running regular club nights.
I got sick of Wellington and decided to move to Tokyo, and I pretty much did the same thing there, playing a lot of club nights and organising shows. I was working away and doing my thing, and I lived over there for about three years. ....
