More than 1,800 additional cases of COVID-19 in schools across Indiana were reported Monday by the Indiana State Department of Health.
Of the additional cases reported Monday, 1,289 occurred in students, 242 occurred in teachers and 338 occurred in school staff members. Most of the newly-reported cases occurred in the last week, although some date back to earlier this month.
Schools in Central Indiana have a mix of in-person and virtual learning options. Schools are not asked to report cases among students, teachers or staff members that have no contact with the school community and thus don t present a risk for exposure, like those that occur in virtual students. ....

On this day more than 200 years ago, Vermont made its temporary mark on the U.S. flag in the form of a newly-minted stripe.
The Green Mountain State, along with Kentucky, secured its spot on the flag after George Washington approved an act on Jan. 13, 1794 in support of a new stripe and star for each state s addition to the Union. The change was fleeting.  ....
