IT'S been years since former Socceroo Eli Babalj has enjoyed football as much as he is under Arthur Papas in a brutal Newcastle Jets pre-season. The workload is large, and the sessions are intense. But through it all Babalj is thriving, buoyed by the prospect of hitting the ground running at the start of the 2021/22 Isuzu UTE A-League campaign.
Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the signing of former Socceroo Eli Babalj for the upcoming 2021/22 Isuzu UTE A-League season. Babalj links up with the Club having been training with the first team since the start of pre-season. The 29-year-old forward has made two appearances for the Socceroos and has featured for top European sides such as Red Star Belgrade and AZ Alkmaar in addition to various stints in the Isuzu UTE A-League. Babalj said he’s pleased a deal has been finalised and is excited to be part of the Club’s new direction.
