May 8 The McCall City Council on Thursday lifted the mask mandate that was in effect inside city limits.
The order was expected to expire May 26, but city leaders approved a series of four metrics to monitor the impact of COVID-19 in the area at an April 22 meeting. When three of the four metrics are met, the council can consider terminating the order.
With three of the four metrics satisfied as of Thursday, the council chose to remove the mandate. The four mandates are: biweekly case rates remain in the green zone for four weeks; Valley County vaccine uptake for 16+ years of age reaches at least 65%; Valley County test positivity percentage remains below 5%; at least one dose of vaccine for 65+ across the Central District Health region reaches 75%. ....

As Idaho inches closer to having 500,000 residents fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the state posted its second-lowest weekday case count of 2021.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare reported 177 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. The only time this year that fewer cases were reported on a weekday was Feb. 15, when there were 115 new cases, according to data from IDHW.
Idaho’s seven-day moving average sits at 210.4 new cases per day, a decrease of about 87% from a peak of 1,653.3 in mid-December. ....

May 5 More than half a million Idahoans are officially fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Data from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare shows that 504,388 people were fully vaccinated as of Tuesday. That equates to about 36% of the state s eligible population (16 and older). The state has administered 1,080,893 doses in all, with 43.5% of the population having received at least one dose.
The vaccination milestone coincides with the continued decrease in the state s seven-day moving average of new COVID-19 cases, which stayed below 200 cases per day for the second consecutive day, at 174.1. ....

Idaho’s seven-day moving average for new COVID-19 cases fell below 200 per day on Monday, a first for the state since June of 2020.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare reported 368 new cases of COVID-19 between Saturday and Monday. That brought the seven-day moving average down to 185.6 per day over the past week. The seven-day moving average has been trending downward since reaching a peak of around 1,600 in mid-December, but it had not fallen below 200 per day since June 27. ....
