Members of the Hillsboro seventh and eighth grade cross-country teams concluded their season Sunday, Oct. 22 at the OHSAA 7th and 8th Grade Cross-Country Invitational at Fortress Obetz.
The final race of the Frontier Athletic Conference meet Saturday saw the Hillsboro Middle School boys locked in a battle with Jackson Middle School for the conference championship. As the race heated up, the sprinkles turned into a downpour, with several runners slipping and sliding on the wet course. By the end of the race, the rain had stopped, and Hillsboro edged Jackson for the 2023 FAC Championship.
The Hillsboro Indians cross-country teams traveled to the Fayette County YMCA to compete in the Washington Court House Blue Lion Invitational on Sept. 30 and came away with several individual and team awards.
The Hillsboro Indians cross-country team traveled north to battle in the Fairfield Invitational on Sept. 19. As has been the case all season, there were numerous outstanding individual and team performances, including the varsity girls team winning the invitational and the boys finishing as event runners-up.
The Hillsboro Indians cross-country teams traveled to Cedarville University on Sept. 16 to participate in the Cedarville Friendship Invitational, with the varsity girls placing second overall and the boys team finishing ninth. The Hillsboro Middle School boys team also earned a fifth-place finish.
